Principal Dentist
Dr Mazhar Iqbal BDS BSc (Hons) MFDS RCSEd PGCert ClinTeach
Bachelor of Medical Science, UCLan School of Medicine & Dentistry graduate, Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Teaching
Maz began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2010, before following his true passion for dentistry. He graduated from the UCLan School of Medicine & Dentistry in 2014 and quickly found himself drawn to teaching.
After completing his postgraduate certificate in Clinical Teaching, Maz became an Educational Supervisor for the Northwest Deanery and a Clinical Supervisor for CDT students at the School of Dentistry in Preston. He also serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
After more than a decade working within the NHS, Maz decided it was time to offer his patients a truly personalised approach — quality care without the constraints of standard NHS services. In late 2022, he took over from veteran dentist Dr. John Bate, discovering his ideal practice here in Worsthorne.
Outside dentistry, Maz enjoys trekking across Britain’s mountain ranges and is a keen fitness enthusiast with interests in Brazilian Jiujitsu and wrestling. He also travels abroad both for family holidays with his two young sons and to volunteer his dental skills helping refugees in underprivileged countries, including providing treatment under general anaesthetic for children with special care needs.
Maz is well known for his calm and reassuring manner, helping patients feel comfortable from the moment they sit in the dental chair. There is no hard sell or pushy advice — if a treatment suits a patient, he will be the first to say so, simply and honestly.
